Lets Do It: the Community way

Ever thought how you can give a helping hand to the community? I bet that many of us do that and we find it hard at times to know where or how to start .. Most of us end up giving a financial contribution to some charity groups and organizations (please check how legitimate it is before you make your contribution) which is very well needed but we are often left on the blind side of knowing how the money was really used..

Well there are many ways to help out in our community … from a simple attitude adjustment to joining the many charity organizations … but what I want to talk about here is the “physical” contribution we can make ..

Lets Gather a group of friends or family and decide on a project : distributing food, fixing a home, taking unfortunate kids to field trips … we can be creative and generous in our ways

Lets Define the cause : who, where, and how can we reach them … there are so many people in here that is in need of a helping hand and sometimes it’s not just about the money

When we put out will and thoughts together all we really need is to  just Do it!

Here are some photos of the work of young Kuwaitis who gave a helping hand “literally”  by transforming an old office room into a community room for the “girls” orphanage … although it was very simple … it meant a lot for both (this was done few years back)

So let’s get to know our community by lending a helping hand… and as the song says (sorry but I don’t know the name of the singer) ” it won’t be long when I need a friend to lean on” … we might need a helping hand one day!

  7. This is a beautiful idea.

We’ve lost our community spirit, where we don’t know who’s living next door to us, and each one of us is living in his or her own bubble.

Not only is it great in helping others in need, it’s enormously useful for projects that people don’t want to pay too much money for, but can be useful to a neighborhood (e.g. playground for children, cleaning up the beach, etc).

Besides, there are many skills I’d love to learn, but don’t have the chance to develop myself, or the assistance needed to practice it.

I look forward to seeing what you have in mind, and where we can take this idea! 😀
